Random ‘Stoner’ Comment

“You have no idea of what a typical ’stoner’ is. The ‘Stoner’ is a persona created by the media, and some people act that way just because they choose to, what you see are just a minority.

The ’stoner’ There are lawyers and doctors who smoke pot. And untold amounts of writers, artists, and musicians who smoke pot. Elected officials, technicians, and businessmen. Good normal people who hide it, because it’s look down upon due to propaganda.” -univearth2

I am 22 years old. I am in my last semester of college and am about to graduate with a degree in Information Systems. I study hard, I work hard, and I am proud to say I am a successful stoner. I only smoke once in a while and I don’t let it inhibit my growth (because it can).
The other night my dad saw me rolling a blunt in my room and he went all crazy on me. He looked at me with this crazy look and said i’ll fuck you up!. This was my first time smoking in 4 months and I was confused because I couldn’t understand what I was doing that was so bad. I feel guilty because I could tell I really stressed out my dad. I love my dad and I don’t want to do that to him but I can’t understand why he gets so mad about weed.
Anyways… We have won the battle brothers and sisters. Marijuana will (probably) be legal in November of 2010. The legalization of marijuana will change the perception of the masses. It won’t be as frowned upon but it will still be seen as a weakness. As people we need to take pride in our work, we need to continually strive for excellence, we need to love each other, and we need to respect each other. Put your faith in God/god and have patience. We are progressing towards true freedom.

Hi Jeff, thanks for ‘saying something’ … your story is not uncommon and your positive outlook is inspiring.

I think the generational gap will just take time to fill, they’ll probably never fully understand considering how most were brainwashed by far worse growing up. I know for a fact, “I’ll fuck you up” is not the answer… that’s for sure. It’s almost impossible to engage an intelligent conversation when anger / ignorance is involved.

It’s important to understand that anything in abundance can stunt your growth (physically, mentally and spiritually) … anyone can easily lose their self to food, prescription drugs, caffeine, cigarettes, religion, friends, music, twinkies, sex, stress, anger, and yes… even Marijuana.

A good piece of advice for every stoner is to not be a stupid one… and by stupid, I mean unconscious of your own actions, without a care in the world… those who fit the stereotype. Show people you can be smart, successful, and healthy too, whether you use marijuana or not.
